MAKE YOURSELF BINGE-PROOFWHY DO I BINGE?When we fast and restrict too much, the brain senses a danger point where it might not get the calories (energy) it needs to keep working. At that point it may make us binge, as a survival mechanism. The brain can, if it wants, completely control us and make us do it against our conscious will. This is called Uncontrollable Binging. The way to stop that is to bring your daily calorie intake up to the amount your body burns each day (or very close). Once you have established to your brain that your nutrition is steady at this level, it will stop the uncontrollable binging. Any binging left is controllable. Why do I still get controllable binging?1. Because I'm addicted to sugar.2. Because I have easy access to binge foods. Here's how to stop it - simple, but not easy:2. Never bring any food into your house that has added sugar. 3. Never eat outside your house unless you have fixed it at home (lunchbox, etc.) a. This means never go in restaurants, starbucks, donut shops, etc. b. This means when your date suggests dinner, you suggest something else. c. This means you sneak your own snack into the movies and don't go near the snack bar. 4. Don't make it taste good. a. Eat it cold. b. Don't do recipes - just eat it straight. 5. Don't bring in foods that you really really like or could binge on. 6. Never eat or drink anything someone gives you for free. That's it! Now you are binge-proof. It is very difficult for you to binge, because the only place where you eat doesn't have anything you like very much. |
